Movie Madness: May Whenever

Well D10ers its been some time since I've had a movie review, although it's really no fault of my own. You see I've had a terrible house guest the last three days that goes by the name Ethel, who I just haven't been able to get rid of until today. After our guest's antics on Friday night, Saturday morning was spent cleaning the bathroom floor (making it less prison like). Saturday evening Erin insisted I have Ethel join while watching fireworks (probably to make me less prudish). Then, when what I really needed after an overwhelming 48 hours is rest, I get forced into a holiday day party with her. Oh my, a weekend in the life of Boots. Yet I digress. Back to movie madness.

An American Werewolf in London is certainly not for everyone, but it is for Boots. Its got everything you want from a movie that has the appearance of a cult classic (although I believe it is excessively popular to fit that handle). It has music that even twenty seven years later is still pretty top notch, a really solid bang scene, overly cheesy specials effects, and a not insignificant amount of gore. This video unfortunately isn't able to be embedded but is a worthwhile watch if you don't have time to do the whole movie. I give it 7.5 boxes of Cream of Wheat out of 10.

Insiders note: To any of you fortunate enough to be present and have seen the movie, doesn't the meeting at the skin flick remind you of when R.A. George busted in while a certain scene from Monster's Ball was on.

Next flick was Gone Baby Gone, brought to you by the Affleck family. I believe that Ben may have had a visit from our wicked house guest while making this, as by no means did it suck as one might have expected. Not exactly a light watch, and the gravity can be a bit overwhelming at times, though it really keeps you in your seat.....oooooook. It seems the ending is a bit controversial, as most people say they like the movie but not the ending. I see that as people disagreeing with the decision the character made, and have a hard time separating it from its overall quality. (Spoiler Alert!)I, Boots himself feel that it could have been a cleaner ending if it closed with the the police cars arriving, much the same as Boondock Saints could cut out the last fifteen or so minutes, but that the ending was appropriate considering the movie as a whole. Good flick, 7 boxes of CoW out of 10,

Finally, Four Weddings and a Funeral. To be perfectly honest, I'd had a bit too much to drink by this point (night of the floor polish) don't remember much of the movie. However I asked Erin what I had to say during/after the show, and she said that I didn't think it was funny at all, that I thought Hugh Grant was a total loser, and that I threatened on numerous occasions to give it an F (one of my lesser qualities, and they are many, is I tend to repeat myself when drinking). I don't know for sure that I wouldn't like the movie if watched again, but Hugh Grant does suck, Andie MacDowell is annoying, so this gets a measly 2 boxes of Cream of Wheat. Thats all for now, The Big Chill and This Is Spinal Tap on the way.
