Today's what should I buy if I have $4 to blow, is an autographed Tim "Rock" Raines 1990 Donruss card. Though Donruss is not exactly the Cadillac of baseball cards (it's more like the Saturn), having such a legendary player in a now defunct team's uniform is practically priceless. Raines, the fourth all time leading base stealer became only the third switch hitter to win a batting title in 1986. Borrrrrring. Though most sources indicate he was given the name Rock because of his solid physique, the more interesting and by all means more probable theory is that he used to carry around a crack rock in the back pocket of his uniform (who is really going to check there) which is why he also only slid head first. This is certainly a possible true story.
This video mentions Tim Raines in the description though I'm not sure if it is the right one or not, but it's baseball, a game where an everyman named Tim Raines used speed, agaility, and a little 'rock' to become a Legend.
This is how it actually may have happened
ReplyDeleteThere are advertisements in spanish in the background for Hilton and Lubriderm.
ReplyDeleteI asked my Dominicana roommate and he wasn't sure if it was Tim Raines or not.
